St John’s Winchester Charity'

Chapel of St John the Baptist

The Chapel of St John the Baptist situated in The Broadway is owned by St John’s Winchester and is one of the few surviving medieval hospital chapels still standing.   It brings together the community of St John’s with special events such as our Founders Day Service, Easter and Christmas Carols.

Our regular weekly Chapel Services are on:-

Sunday         10.30am    Holy Communion

Wednesday  10.00am   Holy Communion

The chapel is open to visitors the first Saturday of the month 11.00am-3.00pm from May to September inclusive.  Admission is free. Leaflets about the chapel can be obtained and there are postcards to purchase.  Visitors are also welcome to join our residents at the weekly services.

Rev Ivor Dowse, an almshouse resident, said: “The chapel is of great historic interest, and since opening in April 2012 many local residents and visitors to the city have taken the opportunity to come inside the chapel and look around”.
